Making a difference through our activism

Winning rights for workers goes far beyond what you win in your collective agreement. Through the United Steelworkers' political and lobbying efforts, our members and activists campaign at every level of government for better labour laws, laws to protect wages and pensions in bankruptcies, to protect job security, to strengthen the public health care system, to improve women's rights, to expand public education and job-training, to win better trade laws and much more. Get involved.

HUMAN RIGHTS & EQUITY

Besides ensuring workplaces are free from discrimination, our union promotes more justice for workers who are Indigenous, racialized, women, LGBTQ2SIA+ and/or living with a disability.

YOUNG WORKERS

Inspiring and educating young workers through mentoring, leadership development, and union and community activism.

GRIEVANCE

Fighting for your rights daily and keeping the company accountable, the grievance committee will review grievances and recommend whether to proceed to arbitration.

HEALTH & SAFETY

Defending members, negotiating safer and healthier working conditions and lobbying for better regulations and standards.

WOMEN OF STEEL

Demanding equality, we fight for pay equity, combat harassment, and offer training and development to women.

INDIGENOUS COMMITTEE

This committee will ensure that our Indigenous groups on site are heard, giving you a platform to raise your issues and an avenue to deal with them.
